About us

Better homes, planned properly.

rumaruma is where Malaysian homeowners come before they renovate — for design ideas worth living with, and the real costs and steps behind them.

Why rumaruma exists

Planning a renovation in Malaysia usually means piecing together advice from Pinterest boards, Facebook groups and contractor quotations that don't quite match. Most design content is written for homes overseas. Most cost advice is vague.

We write for the Malaysian home specifically: humidity and monsoon season, condo JMB rules, local materials and brands, and prices in RM. Every design idea comes with what it actually costs and takes to build here.

The name comes from rumah, the Malay word for home — doubled for rhythm, and to make it easy to remember.

Who we write for

  • Homeowners planning a renovation — condo or landed, first home or next one. Our guides assume no prior renovation experience.
  • Contractors, renovators and tradespeople who want to sharpen their methods, material knowledge and understanding of Malaysian standards. Better-informed contractors mean fewer renovation horror stories for everyone.

What you'll find here

  • Inspiration — styles and looks that suit Malaysian homes and climate
  • Renovation — planning, budgeting and managing your renovation
  • Interior Ideas — design techniques that make rooms look and work better
  • Tips — practical advice before you start

Who's behind rumaruma

rumaruma is owned by Sinno Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian stone and countertop supplier. The site is run as an independent resource: we recommend products and approaches on their merits — durability, performance in our climate, looks and cost. Where a Sinno product comes up, it's held to the same standard as any other recommendation.
